My name is Brittany, and I am a ginger.

There are many words that have been used to describe me.

Daughter Friend Happy Weird
Lame Crazy BORING
Silly BFF bandtasmic whore
 Leprechaun DRUMMER wench
midget babe trekkie
sweet pirate AGGIE
 nerd MORMON roommate

Quite the list eh?
Well I'm not done yet, there is one more word that is used to describe me. It is used affectionately, disdainfully, discriminately, categorically, fearfully, and overly too often.

Over my almost-twenty years of life I have been called this almost as often as I've been called my own name.

That's right ladies and gentlemen.
I am
A

{Ginger}

According to my dictionary, "ginger" can mean any of the following:
  • a reedlike plant, Zingiber officinale, native to the East Indies but now cultivated in most tropical countries, having a pungent, spicy rhizome used in cookery and medicine.
  • piquancy; animation: plenty of ginger in their performance of the dance.
  • a yellowish or reddish brown

According to urbandictionary.com, a ginger is described as:

  • A human, characterized by pale skin, freckles and bright red hair. "Gingers" are generally considered to be inferior to their more melanin-rich brethren, and thus deservingly discriminated against. Gingers are thought to have no souls. The condition, "gingervitis" is genetic and incurable.

Since there is obviously some discrepancy here, I think it is my duty as a proud Ginger to set the record straight.
    {Gingers are awesome}
    My proof?

See? the ginger category is where many of the coolest people in the world reside, myself included.
And yes: I can't walk outside without spf 9000 sunscreen on, I can play dot-to-dot with my freckles, I can't wear pink, and I am constantly mocked by the rest of society.
BUT
I think it a small price to pay to be this awesome.

AND
I have been told at least 1789046352.12 times that I have the most beautiful hair in the world and that I should never dye it.

My conclusion?
All you haters out there are just jealous.
Because gingers are sexier than you.
Ha.

HA HA HA!

Oh the Cleverness of Me!

As you all well know, I have spent almost the entirety of my summer jobless, and alone at my house. This usually just results in me staying in my pajamas all day watching Korean boy-band music videos and eating chocolate chips. I lead a charmed life.

Yesterday though, I decided that enough was enough! I was going to take back my life and do something productive for once! (This sentence for some reason makes me picture myself in front of a fluttering American Flag while the nation cheers me on. Wow, that would be really cool...maybe I should buy a big flag...) I was going to learn how to fly and then save the world from Lex Luther, but I just didn't have the time- so I got all crafty instead!

I don't know if  this is just the estrogen smothered way of gaining satisfaction from working with your hands, but I love doing little crafts and such. My mom used to be huge into scrapbooking and I always loved spending the days helping her put all the pages together and making them all cute. Sadly, no one but me has time to do anything like that anymore... so I just have to do it myself.

So yesterday, I let my creative juices flow, and ended up with two masterpieces that I am very proud of. You might think they're lame, but no offense: I don't really care...

So. Here they are!

Number One:
I was sitting in my room and I noticed that I had quite the collection of movie tickets on my walls. Really, I had like 50 of them up there. I decided that they looked really tacky just sitting on my wall like that, and I was thinking of different ways to make them look incredibly less tacky and incredibly more awesome. This is what I came up with:

Mock it if you will, but I think it looks pretty cool!

Number Two:
I have a lot of necklaces and I always get really frustrated because they get all tangled together, or I misplace one, and all other manners of jewelry related horror. I found a very large piece of framed corkboard and ransacked my mother's ribbon drawer to create this one. (I am even prouder of this one than the last, mostly because it's super cute, and even more mostly, because the ribbon has sheep on it.)

Isn't that just handy? I hot glued mini clothes-pins to the ribbon and now I can use them to hold all of my necklaces! I felt so ingenious.

SHEEP RIBBON!!!! AH!!!!

After all success of my first two creations, I have decided to do many more such projects over the summer. On my list are: A super cute apron, A college scrapbook, and whatever else I can come up with! If you guys have any ideas, or have any questions about these ones: I would love to hear from you!!!

The World, According To Me

I have learned a few very important things in my 19 years of living.

One: People with Red Hair are naturally better at everything than normal people, this results in the rest of humanity becoming extremely jealous and resorting to using derogatory terms like "Ginger" and "Carrot Top" to help themselves feel better about their un-cool, un-ginger lives.

Two:  The only people that are better than gingers, are Asians. Which is why a combination of these two will eventually result in a super-human race that I like to call "Ginja's". Their hair will serve as an alternative energy source and they will keep the world safe from those heinous creatures known as "blondes"
(not that I have anything against blondes, but in the future they go kind of crazy)

Three: Chocolate does not make everything better. Two words:
        Ketchup. Eeeewwwww

Four: Elephants are Incredible. How many creatures do you know that can pick up a bowling ball with their nose??? Plus they never forget anything. I bet they new where Bin Laden was the whole time.

Five: You can learn everything you need to know about life from Calvin and Hobbes. I'm not even kidding. Those comics should be the base curriculum for grades K-4 and then again in High School. We would have a much smarter, politically aware, and more amiable society. Plus we could carry stuffed animals with us everywhere, talk to them like they're alive, and no one would think you were crazy.

Six: If life hands you melons...you're dyslexic.

Seven: There is no good way to answer the question "Are you ticklish?" No matter what you say, people are going to touch you.

Eight: April showers bring May flower. Unless you live in Utah, where it snows in April and you don't get to see your dang flowers until the middle of August. Also the Polar Ice Caps, they only have flowers in late November.

Nine: Just because someone is short, doesn't mean they appreciate being mocked, used as an elbow rest, picked up constantly without permission, or being talked to like a child. Little People have feelings too!!

Ten: You can get through anything, if you have amazing friends. I sure wouldn't have lived through the last 4 years if I didn't have the incredible friends in my life that I do. I love all you guys!!!

Oh my BLARNEY!

Do you know what today is? Do ya?? DO YA??

Well I do....It's....ST PATRICK'S DAY!! AAAAHH!

I know most people don't get that excited over St. Patricks day, but as we've already established- I'm not most people. And this day happens to be one of my favorite days of the year!! I don't really know why...I'm not even Irish! But I am a very devoted St. Patrick's day celebrator.

I have very smexy tights

Honestly, check these babies out!! You can probably see me from Mars when I wear them!! <3

Also, I have this AMAZING hat!

I look like a legit leprechaun, I LOVE IT!!

Since I'm a very petite individual, and the fact that I'm a ginger, I have often been compared to the tiny Irish men that are associated with this holiday.Half of my friends didn't even call me by my name, they just called me Leprechaun, as a result I've always had a soft spot in my heart for them. Last St. Patrick's Day, I dressed up as a leprechaun and went to school, I felt like I was one of the Princesses at Disneyland. Everyone would get all happy when they saw me, I even had people take pictures of me! After that, almost everyone called me leprechaun, even people I didn't know. And every time there was a rainbow, I would have at least five people come up to me and ask where my pot of gold was.

This St. Patricks day coincides with my amazing roommie Haydn's birthday so we're having an awesome Irish shindig to celebrate!! I think we're even making shamrock cupcakes!!

I hope you guys have an INCREDIBLE St. Patricks Day!! Get some luck! Kiss some blarney stone!!!
